Tension erupted at Barang police station in Cuttack following allegations of custodial torture of a youth named Rakesh Behera. Rakesh, who reported his wife missing, was allegedly beaten by police to force identification of an unidentified body as his wife. He is currently hospitalized in critical condition. Locals gheraoed the station in protest, leading to the deployment of 4 platoons of police force to maintain order.
