The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 counseling process has begun with a significant increase in engineering seats across premier Indian institutes. Total seats in 23 IITs rose by 666, reaching 18,826. For the first time, 125 B.Tech seats at IISc Bangalore are included in JoSAA counseling. NIT seats increased by 637, IIIT seats by 1,578, and GFTI seats by 1,464.
