In a major blow to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, 20 TMC MPs, including actress-turned-politician Rachana Banerjee, have expressed their intent to join the NDA. They have written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking separate seating arrangements. Led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, the group believes their political future is more secure with the BJP-led alliance. Since more than two-thirds of the parliamentary party is defecting, the anti-defection law may not apply.
