During the fierce battle of Lanka, Ravana’s son Meghnada (Indrajit) unleashed a devastating, divine weapon, the 'Veerghatini Shakti' upon Lakshmana. Lakshmana fell severely wounded and unconscious on the battlefield. Seeing his beloved brother in this lifeless state, Lord Rama wept like a common human, plunging the entire Vanara (monkey) army into deep despair. On the advice of vaid Sushaina, Hanuman reached Dronagiri mountain to fetch mystic life saving herb, Mrit Sanjivini but faced countless mystical herbs glowing there. Unable to identify the exact Sanjivani plant and fearing that any delay would cause Lakshmana's death, Hanuman used his immense power to root out the entire mountain.
