Germany has abolished the airport transit visa requirement for Indian citizens passing through German airports to third countries effective from June 3, 2026. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs welcomed the move, stating it will strengthen bilateral ties and ease travel. The decision follows discussions between PM Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in January 2026. This change aims to facilitate easier movement, boost trade, and enhance economic cooperation between the two nations.
