The Punjab government has successfully restored the Bist-Doab canal network, leading to a massive 167% increase in the irrigated area for the year 2025-26. Under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal announced that an additional 1.10 lakh acres have been brought under canal irrigation, including 19,213 acres receiving canal water for the first time.
