A heartbreaking incident of social boycott was reported from Marhatikra village in Bargarh district, Odisha. A 60-year-old woman, Shanti Bariha, was boycotted by villagers for marrying outside her caste. After her death on Wednesday, none of the villagers came forward to help with her last rites. Five years ago, she had to drag her husband's body herself for burial due to the same boycott.
