The central government has reduced the annual quota of subsidized LPG cylinders for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries from 9 to 4. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, this change aligns with the average annual consumption of beneficiaries. Global LPG costs have risen above 1,600 rupees due to tensions in West Asia, causing oil companies a loss of 700 rupees per cylinder. Despite the reduction in the annual quota, the existing subsidy of 300 rupees per cylinder will continue to be provided to the beneficiaries.
