Puri Police encountered a notorious criminal named Chandan Jena, alias Vishnu Prasad, on Saturday night near Shrisetu Road. Acting on a tip-off about a planned highway robbery, the Baselisahi police team conducted a raid. When confronted, Jena attempted to flee on a motorcycle but fell and allegedly opened fire at the police. In self-defense, the police fired back, injuring Jena in his right leg. He was initially taken to Puri District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to Cuttack for further treatment.
