The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the tragic death of 6 people due to toxic gas in an under-construction septic tank in Kalahandi, Odisha. Terming it a serious violation of human rights, the Commission issued notices to the Odisha Chief Secretary and Kalahandi SP, seeking a detailed report within two weeks. The report must include the investigation status, health of the injured, and compensation provided to the victims' families.
