The only C-band Doppler Weather Radar station in Western Odisha, located in Sambalpur, remains non-functional despite construction completion. Started in 2015-16, the project faced a 7-year delay. Although most infrastructure and the radar from Ahmedabad are installed, the IMD hasn't operationalized it due to missing wind radar components. Currently, weather forecasting for Western Odisha still relies on Paradip and Gopalpur stations.
