On 27 May 2026, an alleged robbery attempt targeting cyclists was reported on the Sangrur Patiala road near Bhai Gurdas Group of Institutes in Sangrur, Punjab. According to reports, a group of cyclists out on an early morning ride around 5:15 am were allegedly targeted by men travelling in a white Maruti Zen car, with one cyclist reportedly injured after the vehicle abruptly stopped in front of them. The accused allegedly threatened cyclists with swords and snatched mobile phones before fleeing. Punjab Police later confirmed that two accused were arrested within hours under PS Sadar Sangrur and that four looted mobile phones, a stolen Zen car and an Activa scooter were recovered. #punjab
