โ€œBlessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.โ€ โ€” Matthew 5:7 Mercy is one of the clearest reflections of the heart of God. Jesus taught that those who show compassion, kindness, and forgiveness to others will themselves experience the mercy of God. In a world that often chooses harshness and judgment, believers are called to respond with grace. A beautiful example is Ebed-Melech, an Ethiopian, who showed mercy to Jeremiah when the prophet was thrown into a muddy cistern and left to die. Though others ignored Jeremiahโ€™s suffering, Ebed-Melech courageously rescued him with compassion and care. Because of his mercy and faith, God later promised to protect him during Jerusalemโ€™s destruction (Jeremiah 39:15โ€“18). When we show mercy to the hurting, forgotten, and weak, we reveal the character of Christ and open our lives to Godโ€™s abundant mercy. Remember this day, โ€œBlessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
