The Punjab Arhtiya Association met with the Parliamentary Standing Committee led by Charanjit Singh Channi to address critical issues facing grain market agents. Key demands include increasing commission rates from ₹50 to ₹64 per quintal, which have been frozen since 2020. They also sought a 50% hike in labor wages due to a decade of stagnation and highlighted practical difficulties in implementing EPF/PPF for migrant workers. Other concerns raised included grain storage shortages, wheat lifting delays, and the need for a separate policy for hybrid paddy seeds. The committee assured that these matters would be conveyed to the Central Government.
