A tragic fire broke out at the Maopiya Sewanna Old Age Home in Anguruwatota, Kalutara district, Sri Lanka, claiming the lives of 12 elderly residents. Ten died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Preliminary reports suggest a gas cylinder explosion caused the blaze on Wednesday evening. Out of 70 residents, 51 were rescued safely and moved to a nearby school.
