Paddy collection in Bargarh district has slowed down, leading to an accumulation of crops at mandis as millers fail to appear regularly. Meanwhile, illegal paddy from neighboring Chhattisgarh is reportedly entering Bargarh through various bypass routes in blocks like Ambabhona and Sohela. Despite instructions from the District Collector to tighten border security and the formation of enforcement teams, locals allege that surveillance is inadequate, allowing overnight smuggling of paddy trucks. While some trucks have been seized in Barpali and Jagdalpur, the illegal trade continues to raise concerns among farmers and the public.
