On 13 May 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen travelling in Delhi with an unusually small two car convoy, amid the ongoing West Asia crisis and rising global fuel prices. According to multiple reports, Modi had instructed the Special Protection Group (SPG) to reduce the size of his official convoy by nearly 50% as part of wider austerity and fuel conservation measures following tensions linked to the Iran conflict and disruption fears around global oil supplies. The video showed only a Range Rover and Toyota Fortuner accompanying the Prime Minister instead of the usual 12 15 vehicle VVIP motorcade, though officials clarified that mandatory security protocols remained fully intact. The move came shortly after Modi publicly appealed to citizens to reduce petrol and diesel consumption, use public transport and electric vehicles, avoid unnecessary travel, prefer virtual meetings, and conserve foreign exchange reserves due to economic pressure caused by the West Asia situation. Reports also said other ministers, including Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, began reducing convoy sizes in response to the initiative. #Delhi
