Violence has erupted in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the death of a JAAC activist. Clashes between security forces and protesters in Rawalakot have resulted in 11 deaths, including four police officers, and over 70 injuries. The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) called for a lockdown to protest against regional assembly elections and seat distribution. In response, the Pakistani government suspended internet and telephone services and deployed rangers.
