Calgary police have arrested four Punjabi men—Taranveer Singh, Daksh Gautam, Akashdeep Singh, and Pradeep Singh—in connection with a high-profile kidnapping and extortion case targeting the South Asian community. On May 6, a man was abducted at gunpoint in Edmonton and taken to Calgary to lure a businessman friend for extortion. The targets managed to escape and alert the police.
