📖 Today’s Gospel – April 20, 2026
Monday of the 2nd Week of Easter
John 6:22–29
They went looking for Jesus.
Not because they understood—
but because they had received.
They had seen the miracle.
They had eaten the bread.
They had been filled.
But Jesus saw deeper.
“You are looking for me
not because you saw signs—
but because you ate your fill.”
The problem was not their search.
It was their reason.
They were seeking what He could give—
not who He is.
Then Jesus said:
“Do not work for food that perishes,
but for the food that endures
to eternal life.”
Everything shifts here.
From temporary needs
to eternal hunger.
From what satisfies for a moment
to what gives life forever.
They asked:
“What must we do?”
Jesus answered:
“This is the work of God—
that you believe
in the One He has sent.”
Not performance.
Not achievement.
Belief.
Trust.
Relationship.
✨ Reflection
This speaks directly into how we often approach God today. It is easy to come to Him for help, solutions, and blessings—especially when life feels uncertain. But faith cannot remain at that level. Jesus calls us deeper. Not to use Him—but to know Him. Not to seek gifts—but to seek the Giver.
💡 Context (Important)
This moment follows the multiplication of the loaves. The crowd experienced provision, but missed the meaning. The miracle was not the destination—it was a sign pointing to Jesus Himself, the true Bread who gives eternal life.
💡 Truths to Remember
• Seeking God only for benefits leads to shallow faith
• Jesus calls us beyond temporary needs to eternal life
• Faith is not a transaction—it is trust
• The greatest “work” is to believe in Him
• True fulfillment is found in relationship with Jesus
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus, purify my intentions. Help me not to seek You only for what You can give, but to seek You for who You are. Teach me to trust You deeply and follow You with sincerity. Lead me from temporary desires to eternal life. Amen.
