The Punjab government, led by CM Bhagwant Mann, presented its case before the Ravi-Beas Water Tribunal, stating that the state does not have a single drop of surplus water to share with Haryana or Rajasthan. During a visit by the three-member tribunal to Harike Headworks, officials highlighted that while Punjab needs 52 MAF of water, it only has an allocation of 15.14 MAF. The government emphasized that river water availability has significantly decreased from 17.17 MAF in 1981 to 13.0 MAF in 2021, forcing the state to rely heavily on depleting groundwater for agriculture.
