The government gave a one-year extension to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri till 14th July next year. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved a one-year extension in service for Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who is a 1989 batch IFS officer, beyond 14th July this year. 5. The Government yesterday approved the construction of 6 Lane Road Tunnel For NH-148AE connecting Dwarka Expressway with Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj in Delhi. 6. Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal has said that India and the European Union are working to expedite the inclusion of Indian ship recycling yards under the EU Ship Recycling Regulation. 7. Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and World Meteorological Organization (WMO) jointly released a report titled “Extreme Heat and Agriculture” yesterday. 8. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Agriculture Department of Republic of Seychelles signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the official visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Seychelles. The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ministry said that to operationalise the agreement, both sides also signed a five-year Work Plan from 2026 to 2031 to focus on climate-smart agriculture, horticulture, livestock, post-harvest management and food security. 9. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the admit cards for the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA)-PG and the All India Competitive Examination (AICE)-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) 2026, scheduled to be held on the 4th of July. 10. India has achieved a major milestone with the approval of the country’s first Private Point-in-Space (PinS) instrument approach procedure for helicopter operations at Undavalli Heliport. PinS procedures use advanced satellite-based navigation technology to enable helicopters to conduct safe and precise instrument approaches to heliports that do not have conventional instrument landing infrastructure. 11. Chairperson of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on One Nation, One Election, P.P. Chaudhary, yesterday stressed the need for holding simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies. 12. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi has said, over 32,000 electoral enumeration forms have been digitized in Delhi under the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls so far. 13. The 63rd Foundation Day of the Tripura Legislative Assembly was observed yesterday. In West Bengal, the second instalment of Annapurna Yojana was distributed yesterday. Addressing the programme in Kolkata, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said under this scheme, money would be credited to only eligible women members of a family. The Annapurna Yojana is being implemented by the Women Child Development and Social Welfare department of the government of West Bengal. 17. The 29th National e-Governance Conference commenced yesterday at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur. The two-day conference is being jointly organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and the Government of Rajasthan. The conference was inaugurated by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. 18. Arunachal Pradesh to submit flood assessment report to Centre: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that ground assessment of the flood-affected areas of the state is currently underway and, after its completion, a detailed report will be submitted to the Central Government. 19. Indian Oil has reduced 19 Kg LPG prices in India for the first time in 2026. From July 1, 2026, the commercial LPG cylinder is down by Rs 183.50 in Delhi and lower by Rs 173 in Patna. However, the prices of 14.2 Kg LPG cylinders are unchanged for July 2026. 20. Indian Railways has reduced the advanced ticket booking period by half. In a statement, Railways said that passengers will now be able to book train tickets up to 60 days in advance, instead of the previous 120 days. This change will come into effect from November 1. Until October 31, passengers can continue to book tickets 120 days ahead of their journey. 21. Uttar Pradesh launched the second phase of the statewide School Chalo Abhiyan on 1 July 2026 from Saharanpur. The campaign will run across Uttar Pradesh from 1 July to 15 July 2026 for the 2026-27 academic session. -------------------------------------- *LEGAL REPORT* -------------------------------------- 1. The Supreme Court laid down guidelines on how courts determine the annual income of deceased victims in motor accident or injured claimants on the basis of Income Tax Returns. In a significant verdict aimed at bringing uniformity to motor accident compensation, the top court held that for salaried individuals, only the Income Tax Return (ITR) of the previous year will be sufficient for showcasing the annual income. 2. The government issued a notice to Meta regarding the rollout of the username feature on WhatsApp in India. Sources said that the Ministry of Information and Technology directed Meta to furnish a detailed explanation on the usernames feature within three days. The Ministry also directed Meta not to roll out the usernames feature until consultation on the matter is over. 3. The protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar entered the 12th day on Wednesday, with activist Sonam Wangchuk continuing his hunger strike for the fourth day, as TMC MP Sagarika Ghose and social activists Yogendra Yadav and Anjali Bhardwaj visited the site and extended solidarity. 4. Indian Naval Ships (INS) Tarkash and Ikshak concluded their port call at Port Victoria, Seychelles. Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain yesterday assumed the appointment of the Vice Chief of the Army Staff. Lieutenant General Jain is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, and was commissioned into the MAHAR Regiment in June 1988. 3. Indian Army has decided to raise specialised units called Baaz Battalions for drone warfare. India has strongly condemned the demolition of the historic 125-year-old sacred Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sahib in Farooqabad, Pakistan, calling it highly deplorable and targeted act of vandalism. 4. India and Pakistan yesterday exchanged lists of civil prisoners and fishermen in each other’s custody through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad.
