CBSE is set to implement a new Three-Language Policy starting from Class 9, mandating two Indian languages out of three. While metro cities face confusion, schools in Odisha are largely unaffected as most students already study Odia, Hindi, and English. However, students previously opting for foreign languages like German or French must now switch to an Indian language. This change increases the number of core subjects from 5 to 6, requiring adjustments in school timetables and internal assessment processes. Educationists highlight that while 90% of Odisha schools are ready, the sudden change might pressure students transitioning from foreign to native languages.
