The historic Kulada Jagannath Temple in Ganjam, built in 1760 by the Bhanja dynasty, is currently facing financial struggles. Following a major theft in 1993 and land encroachments, the temple relies on donations from the public, businessmen, and leaders for daily rituals and festivals. For the 'Suna Besha' ritual, donors provide jewelry temporarily and take it back after the event due to security concerns. Ahead of the July 16 Rath Yatra, local administration and the temple committee reviewed chariot repairs. While the state government spent 1.22 crore on renovations, the community seeks a permanent management solution for this heritage site.
