Farmers in Bargarh district, Odisha, are facing severe issues with paddy procurement tokens during the Rabi season. Many farmers reported that their tokens have been blocked or the allowable quantity of paddy for sale has been significantly reduced, alleging a conspiracy. A group of farmers from Katapali and Khuntulipali met the Bargarh SP and ADM seeking intervention. While they were supposed to sell 26 quintals per acre, the tokens showed only 10-16 quintals. The administration has assured a resolution by June 5th as farmers worry about impending rains affecting their harvest.
