The Odisha Vigilance has arrested three contractors for allegedly embezzling 3 crore rupees in a LED streetlight installation scam across Keonjhar, Nayagarh, and Jajpur districts between 2021 and 2023. The accused, including owners of Konventer Transpower and Biraja Electricals, were involved in tender violations and submitting false bills without installing equipment like meters and cables. Notably, one of the arrested, Dharanidhar Sahoo, rose from being a meter reader to a multi-crore property owner.
