The Indian government has appointed Neelkanth Mishra, Chief Economist of Axis Bank, as the new Executive Director (ED) for India at the World Bank for a period of three years. He replaces former IAS officer Parameswaran Iyer and will operate from the World Bank headquarters in Washington. Mishra, an IIT Kanpur graduate, has extensive experience in economic research and policy, having previously worked at Credit Suisse for two decades.
