Suryakanti Pandey, the woman Sarpanch of Nimna Panchayat in Subarnapur district, was arrested by Odisha Vigilance while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. She had allegedly demanded the money from a Self-Help Group (SHG) member to sign documents related to a fish farming subsidy and lease agreement. Initially, she demanded ₹40,000, which was later reduced to ₹20,000. Following a complaint, the Vigilance team caught her red-handed and seized the bribe money.
