A woman Sarpanch in Subarnapur district, Suryakanti Pandey, was caught red-handed by Odisha Vigilance while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a Self-Help Group (SHG). The bribe was demanded to sign an agreement for a fish farming lease and to facilitate the release of a subsidy from the district fisheries office. Following a complaint, a trap was set, and the bribe money was recovered. Simultaneous raids are ongoing at two locations associated with the Sarpanch.
