A 30-year-old tusker (makhana) was electrocuted to death at a farmhouse in Hindol, Dhenkanal. The owner, a retired army personnel, allegedly used 11KV electric fencing to kill the elephant as it was frequenting his mango orchard. To hide evidence, the carcass was buried using a JCB. Forest officials recovered the body after a tip-off and arrested the farmhouse owner, a guard, and the JCB driver.
