Odisha Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo attended the National Kharif Conference in New Delhi, highlighting that Odisha's agricultural sector is growing at 5.3%, significantly higher than the national rate of 3.1%. For the 2024-25 period, the state produced 150 lakh metric tonnes of food grains. The state has set a cultivation target of 57.40 lakh hectares for the upcoming season, backed by a corpus fund of 340 crore for seeds and fertilizers. Proposals include expanding Koraput coffee to 1 lakh acres, promoting organic farming under the 'Amrit Anna' scheme, and simplifying payment processes for farmers by conducting quality checks only once at procurement centers.
