The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has ordered a compensation of Rs 2 crore to the family of a woman who died due to medical negligence in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. In 2012, Dr. Rajiv Lochan of Ashirwad Nursing Home surgically removed the woman's healthy left kidney instead of the diseased right one. The patient’s health deteriorated, leading to her death in 2014. The commission described it as a most serious case of negligence. The doctor's registration had been previously suspended for two years by the state medical council.
