The Karnataka government has overhauled its liquor tax system, shifting from price-based taxation to an Alcohol by Volume (AIB) model. Announced by CM Siddaramaiah, the policy will take effect on May 11, 2026. This change reduces IML slabs from 16 to 8, aiming to rationalize prices and make them competitive with neighboring states like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Companies will now have more freedom to set prices based on quality and market demand. https://punjab.news18.com/news/national/in-karnataka-alcohol-tax-rule-changed-as-liquor-can-get-cheaper-new-excise-duty-system-aib-model-explained-skm-969250.html #Creator program
