The first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections saw a record 92.89% voter turnout, a 10.5% increase from 2021. This rise is attributed to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by the Election Commission, which removed 9.08 million names including deceased and duplicate voters. Consequently, the total voter base shrank to 67.5 million.
