Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district achieved a milestone as its two agricultural products—'Pea' and 'Water Chestnut'—were officially granted the Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the GI Registry in Chennai on June 26. This makes Jabalpur the first region in India to receive a GI tag for two agricultural products simultaneously. The unique taste and quality attributed to Narmada's water and fertile black soil now have global recognition. This tag ensures legal protection for local farmers against fake branding and opens new doors for international exports, positioning Jabalpur as an emerging 'Agricultural Brand Hub'.
