The life of Jonathan Goforth, a Canadian missionary and revivalist illustrates this truth. As a missionary in China, he faced intense opposition, danger, and moments of deep discouragement. Yet instead of retreating in fear or shame, he continually looked to God in prayer and dependence. During times of revival, his face and spirit reflected a joy and confidence that could not be shaken by trials.
