Five men were arrested in Varanasi for cooking non-vegetarian food and consuming alcohol on a boat in the Ganges River. The incident, which took place near Dashashwamedh Ghat, went viral on social media, leading to charges of hurting religious sentiments. Police identified the accused as Deepak Kumar, Ajay Sahani, Arun Kumar, Anurag Nishad, and Rahul Sahani. Although the video was recently uploaded, investigation revealed it was filmed several months ago.
