NASA astronaut Dr. Anil Menon, of Indian origin, is set to embark on a 200-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS) starting July 14. Accompanied by Russian cosmonauts, he will travel via the Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft. As a doctor, Menon's primary role is to study the effects of microgravity on human blood circulation and vision (SANS syndrome). His research will also involve creating sterile saline from recycled water, a critical step for ensuring medical safety during long-duration future missions to Mars.
