Residents of Lajkura village in Brajrajnagar, Jharsuguda district, are facing severe health and safety issues due to surrounding coal mines. The village is plagued by extreme air pollution, skin diseases, and the constant fear of land subsidence from exhausted underground mines. Mining explosions have cracked house walls, and 70% of agricultural land has been lost. Despite being promised relocation for over 13 years, 160 families continue to live in hazardous conditions with acute water shortages.
