The Calcutta High Court has ordered a fresh investigation by the CBI into the 2024 RG Kar rape and murder case. Following allegations of evidence tampering and involvement of multiple people by the victim's parents, the court directed the formation of a 3-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the CBI Eastern Zone Joint Director. The SIT must re-examine events from the victim's last dinner to her funeral and submit a report by June 25.
