The Ministry of the Two Witnesses (Revelation 11:5–12) 2) “And they have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.” (Revelation 11:6) Beloved holy people of the Lord, God’s two witnesses—Elijah and Enoch—during the 1260 days (3½ years) following the rise of the Antichrist, will prophesy so that the Jews may be brought to redemption. In their ministry, the mighty hand of God will be powerfully revealed. Their ministry includes: 1) Prophesying. (Revelation 11:3) 2) Devouring with fire. (Revelation 11:5) 3) Destroying their enemies. (Revelation 11:5) 4) Shutting heaven that it rain not. (Revelation 11:6) 5) Turning waters to blood. (Revelation 11:6) 6) Smiting the earth with all plagues. (Revelation 11:6) Through these six mighty works, they will stand against the rule of the Antichrist—the great serpent—during the time of great tribulation. Thus the redemption of the sealed 144,000 of Israel shall be fulfilled. By declaring the prophecies concerning Israel’s redemption, they will bear witness that Jesus is the Messiah, leading Israel to realization and repentance. “For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.” (Matthew 23:39) “Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.” (Luke 13:35) “And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is My people: and they shall say, The Lord is My God.” (Zechariah 13:9) “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for His only son.” (Zechariah 12:10) “Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.” (2 Corinthians 3:16) “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery… that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved.” (Romans 11:25–27) “Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved.” (Romans 9:27) “Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem… that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned.” (Isaiah 40:2) “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” (Hebrews 4:9) “This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel… I will put My laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.” (Hebrews 8:10–11) “After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down.” (Acts 15:17) Beloved saints of the Lord, all these prophetic Scriptures point to the last days. During the 3½ years of great tribulation after the rise of the Antichrist, 144,000 Israelites will repent and receive Jesus as the Messiah. These are the one-third remnant who shall be saved. The ministry for their redemption appears closely connected with the justice of the law—“eye for eye, tooth for tooth” (Exodus 21:24–25)—as reflected in Revelation 11:3, 5, and 6. These two servants, focusing on the redemption of Israel, will proclaim the above prophetic Scriptures as testimony, thereby completing the ministry of Israel’s salvation in the Lord. Today Revelation Meditation : 19/02/2026 The book of Revelation Explanation Post -214 XIX. The Ministry of the Two Witnesses (Revelation 11:5–12) 1) “If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die.” (Revelation 11:5) Beloved saints of the Lord, Revelation chapter 11 reveals events that take place during the final three and a half years—known as the Great Tribulation—following the rise of the Antichrist. This chapter also explains the nature of the ministry through which 144,000 Israelites are brought into redemption. Since this ministry concerns Israel, it carries characteristics connected with divine judgment and covenant justice. In Revelation chapter 7, we see that 144,000 from the tribes of Israel are sealed with a special mark of protection given by God. However, Revelation 11:5–6 shows that the two witnesses are granted even greater authority and supernatural protection for the sake of this redemptive mission. During this intense period, God’s hand of judgment is revealed in fiery power. Other passages describe similar judgments involving fire (Revelation 8:7–8,10; 9:17–18; 16:2,8–9), demonstrating the severity of God’s righteous acts during that time. Because this ministry is aligned with the will of God for Israel’s salvation, the Word declares that fire proceeds from the mouths of the two witnesses to consume their enemies. Any power—including the Antichrist and his authorities—that attempts to hinder the redemption of the sealed Israelites will face divine judgment. This theme of God’s word as consuming fire is consistent throughout Scripture: “I will make my words in your mouth a fire and these people the wood it consumes.” (Jeremiah 5:14) “I cut you in pieces with my prophets, I killed you with the words of my mouth.” (Hosea 6:5) Elijah called down fire from heaven that consumed the captain and his men. (2 Kings 1:10) Elijah executed the prophets of Baal at the Kishon Valley. (1 Kings 18:40) Enoch prophesied that the Lord would come with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge the ungodly. (Jude 14–15) From these Scriptures, many understand that the two witnesses chosen by God for this ministry during the Great Tribulation are Enoch and Elijah. Their ministry, marked by prophetic authority and fiery judgment, aligns with the descriptions given in Revelation 11:5–6. Thus, Revelation 11:5–6 portrays not merely symbolic language but the manifestation of God’s powerful and righteous intervention during the final days—a ministry appointed to fulfill His redemptive purposes for Israel and to execute judgment upon those who oppose His divine plan.
