Today Revelation Meditation : 27/09/2025 The book of Revelation Explanation Post -128 VIII.1) The Sixth Seal – Great Catastrophe “I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red.” (Revelation 6:12) Beloved saints of the Lord, the sixth seal marks the end of the first half of the seven-year tribulation. It is at the opening of this sixth seal that, for the first time in the Revelation, the wrath of God is openly manifested. During the opening of the previous seals, many calamities occurred—but those were events arising naturally under the rule of a wicked system. War, famine, and death were tribulations caused by mankind. But now, in answer to the prayers of the martyred saints beneath the altar, God Himself begins to act directly. “For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?” (Revelation 6:17) As the apostle Paul says, “God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, as well as to us.” (2 Thessalonians 1:6; Revelation 13:10) When the sixth seal is opened, six physical changes occur on the earth: 🌲1. The earth quakes. (Revelation 6:12) 🌲2. The sun turns dark. (Revelation 6:12) 🌲3. The moon becomes like blood. (Revelation 6:12) 🌲4. The stars fall. (Revelation 6:13) 🌲5. The sky recedes like a scroll. (Revelation 6:14) 🌲6. Every mountain and island is removed. (Revelation 6:14) The Lord Jesus also spoke of these very events: “There will be earthquakes in various places.” (Mark 13:8) “The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.” (Matthew 24:29) --- 🌲1) A Great Earthquake The Word of the Lord states that when the sixth seal is opened, a great earthquake is sent by God as judgment. (Amos 1:1; Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 27:51; Matthew 28:2; Acts 16:26) When God descended on Mount Sinai to give Israel the Law through Moses, “the whole mountain trembled violently.” (Exodus 19:18) In Revelation, earthquakes occur at four key moments: ⏩1. When the sixth seal is opened (Revelation 6:12) ⏩2. Just before the trumpets are sounded (Revelation 8:5) ⏩3. When the two witnesses are taken up (Revelation 11:13) ⏩4. When God’s temple in heaven is opened (Revelation 11:19) --- 🌲2) The Sun Turns Dark The Scriptures record several occasions when darkness covered the land: Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days. (Exodus 10:21–22) From noon until three in the afternoon, darkness came over all the land. (Matthew 27:45) “The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.” (Isaiah 13:10) “The moon will be disgraced and the sun ashamed.” (Isaiah 24:23) “When I snuff you out, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.” (Ezekiel 32:7–8) In Revelation, the sun is darkened in four events: ⏩1. At the opening of the sixth seal (Revelation 6:12) ⏩2. When the fourth trumpet is blown (Revelation 8:12) ⏩3. By the smoke rising from the Abyss (Revelation 9:2) ⏩4. When the fifth bowl is poured out (Revelation 16:10) 🌲3) “The Moon Turned Blood Red” Beloved saints, “the moon became like blood” (Revelation 6:12). Without sunlight, the moon cannot shine, so when the sun is darkened, the moon is equally affected. “The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.” (Acts 2:20) “The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” (Joel 2:31) “The sun and moon will be darkened, and the stars no longer shine.” (Joel 3:15) Through His prophets, God foretold these signs long before, declaring that in the time of the sixth seal, the moon would cease to shine and appear as blood. Today Revelation Meditation : 25/09/2025 The book of Revelation Explanation Post -126 VII.2) ii) The Sea of Glass: "Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal." (Revelation 4:6) The sea of glass signifies being sanctified through tribulation. Therefore, it is a place for the martyrs. In Revelation 6:9 we read: "When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained." These are the martyrs from the foundation of the world until the taking up of the bride, the New Testament church. Though they died as martyrs, they had not reached the higher state of sanctification like the perfected saints. Yet, because they labored and died as martyrs, they are seen near the sea of glass. iii) The Sea of Glass Mixed with Fire: "And I saw what looked like a sea of glass glowing with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and its image and over the number of its name. They held harps given them by God." (Revelation 15:2) Beloved saints of the Lord, those who overcame the beast, its image, its mark, and the number of its name are seen standing beside the sea of glass mixed with fire (Revelation 15:2). The phrase "mixed with fire" refers to the great tribulation of the antichrist. "For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again." (Matthew 24:21; Mark 13:19) "There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then." (Daniel 12:1) These words of the Lord reveal the dreadful reign of the antichrist during the great tribulation. Therefore, the martyrs of that period, who go through unparalleled suffering, will be worthy of a higher place in Zion. "Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been." (Revelation 6:11) Beloved saints, the souls of the martyrs under the altar were given white robes. The white robe signifies victory and holiness. It assures their salvation, showing that they were clothed with the white garment of Christ’s righteousness. The souls of the martyrs were able to speak, see, feel, understand, and even wear white robes. From this we understand that the soul remains conscious after death. Some teach that the soul has no awareness after death until the day of judgment when the body rises from the grave. It is true that the body in the grave has no life or sensation. But the soul never perishes. "It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body."
