Mahalaya Amavasye 👻

Mahalaya Amavasya (08-10 -2018) Mahalya Amavasya falls on the New Moon day of Bhadrapada maasa of each year. The period of two weeks from the Bhadra pada shukla Padya to Bhadrapada Krishna paksha which is called Pitru Paksha is considered as holy period for every Hindu to offer Tarpana and perform rituals to the departed souls as well as our Ancestors and fore fathers. This day culminates with the end of Pitru Paksha .It is important to rever our ancestors to strengthen our connection with the past and let the continuity move forward Which will be beneficial to our children. We are well aware of the fact that the present and the future becomes the past .Due to connection with past, every generation has contributed something new and has resulted in continuous progress of the Society .Hence it is necessary to t offer rituals on this day to strengthen the bond with them. It is believed that Pitru Paksha is the time phase when ancestors can provide gifts to their descendants on Earth. As per tradition, the ancestors who have left their Earthly abode and are now staying in another plane can be pleased and invited to give abundant blessings to their descendants during this phase of two weeks. So, this time is very crucial for everyone. Not just the average householders but even the enlightened yogis and rishis look forward to this time to win blessings from their ancestors. Thus, Mahalaya Amavasya is a golden opportunity when we can ask for blessings from our deceased ancestors and make the world change for us. According to Hindu tradition, a war took place between Suras ( Devas)and Asuras (Demons) .In the process many lives were lost on both sides and continued till the Amavasya from the Badhrapada Shukla paksha Padya . Thus, this period is known as Sasthrahatha Mahalaya. We pay homage to the Gods and the Demons who died during that period. The main objective of performing the rituals on this day is to repay the debts to lead a worry free life without any agony. It is said that the Deva Runa pitru Runa and Rushi Runa are the debts repayable to God,the Guru and the ancestors. it is the son’s responsibility to serve parents while they are living and also after their death by performing the Shradh to liberate the departed souls. Various Puranas mention the significance of these rites, like the Garuda Purana, Vayu Purana, Agni Purana, Matsya Purana, and Markandeya Purana. By observing the rituals on this day, we can remove the Karma which is blocking the liberation of our ancestors and offering Tarpana, life will move towards the best in every thing
