Is InterLink ready to face the threat posed by quantum computers?
This is why post-quantum security is becoming increasingly critical. Experts predict that the threat of "Q-Day" may not be fully felt for another decade, yet security preparations should not wait until it is too late.
InterLink has stated that it is testing NIST post-quantum signature standards—including ML-DSA-65, based on FIPS 204—on validator keys and accounts.
Another threat is the "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" scenario, where encrypted data is collected today with the potential to be decrypted once quantum technology becomes more powerful.
Consequently, InterLink is preparing for a phased security migration covering wallets, accounts, validators, consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, key management, performance, and scalability.
The goal is not to incite fear, but to build a secure foundation now to meet the challenges of the future.
