XII.12)(i) “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” (Revelation 7:3)
Beloved holy people of the Lord, the angel who comes from the direction of the rising sun, carrying the seal of the living God, cannot be Christ. We understand this with certainty because he refers to the Father as “our God,” joining himself with the four angels who were standing at the four corners of the earth. His loud cry points to the authority he received from the Holy Father.
During the great tribulation, the 144,000 Israelites—redeemed from the twelve tribes of Jacob—will be sealed so they may be preserved. Until their sealing is completed during the latter 3½ years following the Antichrist, no destruction is permitted on the earth. When the fifth trumpet is sounded, even the locusts that emerge are not allowed to harm those who bear this seal. (Revelation 9:4)
The purpose of sealing the foreheads of the 144,000 Israelites is to grant them protection so that, in the midst of the great tribulation during the final 3½ years after the Antichrist, they may boldly, courageously, and unwaveringly testify that Jesus is the Messiah and the One who comes in the name of the Lord, until God’s plan concerning them is fulfilled in victory.
The seal placed on their foreheads sets them apart and keeps them under God’s protection so that those destined for redemption, according to His purpose, may be preserved. (Genesis 41:42; Esther 3:10; 8:2; Ezekiel 9:4) In this age of grace, God has given the anointing of His Holy Spirit as a seal to those who are part of His holy, royal priesthood and who attain the divine status belonging to God. (Ephesians 1:13–14; Ephesians 4:30; 2 Corinthians 3:18)
