Jeanne DeBonis My art is the battleground for two opposing mental forces - the impulsive need to capture and create visual imagery and the compulsive need to be mathematical and exact ing . One half of my mind engages in stream - of - consciousness thinking while the other half is analytically solving problems . Printmaking is a way to satisfy both halves . It is a methodical process with free - form expression of imagery . I thrive on reduc ing images to simple lines then carving them in linoleum blocks or scratching them into intaglio plates . I particularly enjoy color block printing for the problem - solving process - breaking subjects down into essential colors and then redeveloping them with ink . My subject matter is taken directly from the world surrounding me - empty desolate places , nature , and animals . Mary Ann Biehl ' s art and design interests focus on the visual exploration of ordinary moments as captured through digital pho tography . Current themes include the visual and conceptual as pects of climate change and its impact on marine species and their environments , food choices , and the ever changing landscape of twenty - first century New York City . Michael Boardman is a watercolor artist and naturalist who enjoys exploring the connection to the wild through his practice . Field sketching and observing wildlife in person is essential for building the framework of his pieces and capturing the spirit of the animals gracious enough to share their presence with us . His outdoor sketching has grown from several artist residencies he has been awarded , including Baxter State Park , Acadia National Park and Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska . He lives in North Yarmouth with his family and more than enough backyard wild life to keep him busy . Amelia Ysemay Dercon Born in Holland , and later raised in New Jersey , I grew up in a creative household inspired by my mother who is a photographer and grandparents who attended art school . I am currently pursuing my BFA in Illustration from RISD , and will be graduating June of 2019 . I fell into creating art from a young age , and have always had a love for nature and animals . Naturally these two passions of mine have found a way to meld together through my art , and interest in the natural world . I hope to be able to communicate about science issues through my art going forward .
