Earth’s atmosphere scatters blue and violet light through Rayleigh scattering, letting warmer reds, oranges, and yellows dominate what we see. That’s why sunsets burn orange and the daytime Sun looks golden.
Outside our atmosphere, astronauts see the truth: a bright white Sun, emitting all colors of visible light equally — just like a rainbow blended into one.
It’s wild how a thin layer of air can completely change how we see the heart of our solar system.
