Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) has fielded 6 Brahmin candidates for the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This is a positive and encouraging initiative by Mr. Seeman. For nearly 10 years, many of us in Tamil Nadu have been working quietly at the ground level to highlight the political relevance of the Brahmin community. The change we see today is a sign that those efforts are beginning to show results. In the 2024 MP elections, we even contested in five constituencies to demonstrate that Brahmin votes can be consolidated when there is representation and respect. As winning margins continue to shrink, even 100–500 votes in each constituency can decide the outcome. In that context, every community vote matters. The 6 seats given by NTK represent about 3% of the total 234 seats, roughly matching the often-quoted 3% Brahmin population figure. However, in reality, the Brahmin voter base may be much larger, because many Brahmin sub-groups and surnames are often not properly counted in such estimates. In practical terms, Tamil Nadu could easily have 8–10% Brahmin votes, nearly 50 lakh people, which can become a significant and decisive force if united. This step by Seeman is therefore not just about six seats — it is about recognition, dignity, and political inclusion.
