On 3rd June 2026: A statewide crackdown called “Operation Delta Hunt,” was conducted by Ahmedabad and Gujarat Police, overnight raids were made across multiple areas of Ahmedabad, detaining more than 300 suspected illegal immigrants. After document verification, police confirmed that at least 166 Bangladeshi nationals (including men, women, and children) were allegedly living illegally in the city. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G. S. Malik and Joint Commissioner of Police Sharad Singhal, with Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi later stating that the wider statewide operation had identified 362 Bangladeshi nationals and that deportation and further investigations into forged documents and facilitators were underway.
