A man was killed after being crushed under the wheels of a North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) bus at Bihar More in Bagdogra on Friday. The incident triggered panic among local residents. According to reports, the NBSTC bus was travelling from Islampur to Siliguri when it allegedly developed a mechanical fault near the entrance of Bagdogra Bihar More. Police said a loud sound was heard from the bus, following which the driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle began moving erratically. While taking a turn at Bihar More, the bus allegedly hit a pedestrian crossing the road before crashing into a flyover pillar. The victim died on the spot. Several passengers on board the bus also sustained injuries in the accident. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established. After receiving information, personnel from Bagdogra Police Station and the Bagdogra Traffic Guard reached the spot. The body was recovered and sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination. The damaged bus was later removed from the scene with the help of a crane and taken to the police station. The driver and conductor reportedly fled after the accident.
